Residents express strong support for a county bond issue to finance a new central court house. Campaign teams will mobilize in militia districts and across all walks of life to ensure a high turnout for the election on the 11th of July. The plan promises a convenient, needed building with minimal burden on citizens.
At a Newman club picnic at Dunlap's mill on the Chattahoochee Judge William T. Newman of the U S Court for the Northern District of Georgia praised Gainesville growth and urged holding special court sittings locally. He noted Gainesville's new hotel can accommodate visitors, reducing travel to Atlanta or Athens for Hall County and northern counties' cases.

Judge Charles H. Brand of the Western circuit discusses a possible gubernatorial bid should Hoke Smith be elected to the U.S. Senate. He has received 25 to 30 letters urging him to file and pledging support, but says time is too short and he has not decided.
A July 4 educational rally at Sawdust near Gordon’s Chapel Methodist church touts a new school building and higher course above all else. Speakers include Dr. M. L. Troutman Col John B. Gamble Judge Meadow and J A Griffeth. Principal T P Jones leads Sawdust school as community progress is urged.
Governor elect Hoke Smith spent a day in the city attending the state agricultural college trustees meeting. He was invited to learn the institution's needs and was pleased by President Soule’s reports and the college’s strong past year. He is expected to seek the college’s requested appropriation in his legislative message.
W. J. Bryan arrives in Athens as a citizen supporter of the lyceum platform to engage the public and raise funds. He plans to leave for Abbeville, D. C., by the S. A. L. train this afternoon and will speak at Jefferson at 11 o'clock, drawing a large crowd eager to hear him.
The County Sunday School Union adopts a constitution and by laws to guide its future, with monthly meetings and an annual convention. About 150 to 200 attendees included city and county church leaders and school officials. Dr Len G Broughton spoke on why Sundays schools fail to reach masses, urging natural, life connected teaching and social reform aims.
Nearly full board present with six absent including four expected to miss today. Absentees span in Europe New York and political offices. Today continues informal sessions with reports from chancellor dean agriculture and other offices.
Hon Thomas E Watson plans a vigorous campaign to press reforms in the state. He will open campaign headquarters at the Kimball House in Atlanta this month and has selected D R Prewitte to manage the effort, though Prewitte has yet to commit. He will spend ten days in Franklin Springs to rest and regain strength before deciding.
At Indian Springs the Georgia University school of pharmacy led the state licensing exam for druggists and pharmacists. Of about forty applicants, P. M. Rubinstein earned pharmacist and J. H. Ford apothecary with honors. two others licensed, eleven failed, and all Georgia graduates passed with credit to the university.
In Athens city court a jury awarded R. H. McCrary $50 plus costs after suing for $1,000 over damage to trees and vegetation near the Southern Refining Company acid plant. The Barrow case was set for today but jurors were dismissed for the term. Other suits against the company and city were continued or resolved.
Mr Walter E Morris arrived in Athens with the driver of a touring car from Washington city to spend a few hours with his parents Rev and Mrs J V M Morris He travels toward Montgomery via Atlanta in the car of J C Andrews inventor of a device claimed to protect against railroad collisions and derailments Morris helped demonstrate the invention before Congress and the interstate commerce commission.
Yesterday at eleven o clock fire swept the S A L station area damaging the Southern Express Company's temporary offices and storeroom. Flames scorched the roof and side near the bridge over College avenue but the building was saved. Several packages and company papers burned, two puppies and two sheep perished, eggs roasted, with estimated loss of two to three hundred dollars.
Judge Brand scheduled a special Walton county court term on Tuesday June 27 to try Tom Allen colored for criminal assault on a white Walton county woman. Earlier on June 26 Jackson superior court will try Thomas Webster another negro for alleged assault on a white woman near Hosciton. The judge will travel from the city to Jefferson on the 26th then return to Monroe for the 27th proceedings amid guard and crowd tensions. Pure Honey advertised by Arnold and Abney notes honey sold near Athens with quart jars and comb pieces.
Fruit vendor advertises ripe pineapples bananas and oranges with contact phone 1076 mentioning Arnold and Abney in a compact local notice.
Round trip rate from Athens to Tallulah Falls Georgia is listed as 1.75 dollars via the Gainesville Midland and Southern Railway. Train departs Athens at 6 30 a m Central time on June 24.
