The advertisement proclaims the last week to save ten percent on Mattings Carpets Rugs and other house furnishings. It promises low prices on lawns muslins silk novelties lingerie materials silks trunks and bags hosiery maslin underwear and corsets, claiming buyer satisfaction.
A 1907 letter from Commerce Georgia thanks Athens for hosting visiting mayors. The writer notes Athens inspires local reforms and mentions an election for a waterworks and sewerage bond issue being planned in Commerce. Mrs W C Wingfield departs for Lexington to visit Mrs Phil W Davis.
Max Michael son of Mr and Mrs Simon Michael of this city graduates from Columbia University New York next Wednesday. He passes all examinations with distinction and is praised as the brightest member of the law class. He will return to Athens to practice and receive a warm welcome home. Mrs Mattie E Jossey returns to Americus today.
Local talks point to organizing a substantial stock fire insurance company in Athens this year with initial capital around 150000 dollars. Majority of stock and management to be held by Athenians while some outsiders may join, aiming to keep premiums local and bolster the city's insurance reputation.
An old time singing event is held at West End Chapel this afternoon at two o clock. The public is invited to attend and participate in the singing. A splendid program of old time songs will be presented. Sunday school follows at three o clock.
