New York authorities report ten year old Martha Helms died after suffering fits of lockjaw. Surgeons say a so called toothache paste she used last Saturday contained lemon extract that inflamed her gums and triggered tetanus through absorption into a sensitive nervous system.

Dr Horace Grant Shot by Negro Waiter in Dalton
Dr Horace Grant of Atlanta was shot at the Hotel Dalton dining room by Sam Sapp a Negro waiter after ordering him to stop noise with chairs. The assailant fired from about forty feet, wounding the doctor with a flesh wound that barely bled, and then escaped.
