City seeks 200 shareholders for a cooperative steam laundry

Clarke county forms Southern Cotton Growers branch

The Clarke county branch of the Southern Cotton Growers Association organized at the college chapel with over a hundred farmers present. Col William Henry Morton named president and Prof A Rhodes secretary treasurer. Delegates James S King and James V Morton reported on the New Orleans convention. A 5 percent acreage and fertilizer reduction pledge was adopted, not exceeding 15 acres per mule, with 25 cent dues. Militia district vice presidents will pledge remaining farmers and report by February 20 for state convention delegation.

Athens and Jefferson railroad subscription push continues

The Athens and Jefferson railroad list gains a $500 pledge from Golucke & Co of Atlanta, noted architects of the Presbyterian church. An outsider, N. M. Block of Macon, contributed $300, with L. J. Fire At Prof Sanford’s Prince Avenue Home

Yesterday morning a fire department responded to a blaze in the residence of Prof H. W. Sanford on Prince Avenue. A young room occupant left a fire too high and a coal rolled causing the floor to burn back to the sleepers as flames spread upstairs.
