Mills superintendent killed in 57 foot fall at Soreco station
Yesterday morning at the Southern Oil Refining Company mills near Athens the superintendent Loyd died after plunging 57 feet through a hoisting chain chute while repairing a sprocket. He was 40 to 45, survived by a wife and two children, and had previously worked at the Marietta Fertilizer Mills in Atlanta.

Dearing Dies Suddenl y in Monroe NC Former Athens merchant
Alfred Long Dering aged about fifty died suddenly yesterday at his Monroe North Carolina home. He was born in N C and lived in Athens as a youth, later studied at the University of Georgia and worked in the railroad business before becoming a merchant in Monroe. He is survived by his wife and two children. The body will be brought to Athens for burial in Oconee cemetery with Masonic funeral services planned at the grave.
