B H Sims, 49, circulation manager for the Atlanta Constitution in Athens, shot himself in a sleeping room after kissing his wife and son on a Tuesday night. He spoke of dying, then fired a 22 caliber pistol behind his ear, dying en route to burial in Winterville. He left behind a wife, a daughter Inez, a son Samuel, two brothers, two sisters, and his elderly mother Emmie Sims. The motive remains unclear though mental strain from physical illness was suspected.
