Feb. 7 report says the federal government may be asked by Mayor Han to take charge of a strike involving 35,000 workers while 25,000 others are not yet called off. The strike's fate hinges on actions expected today as negotiations continue.

Associated Press reports US forces in Archangel totals through January 21 show 180 killed or missing and 229 wounded or injured, totaling 403 casualties from a force of 4,927. The February 7 dispatch notes these figures as the war ongoing.
Paris February seventh. The supreme council today discussed extending the armistice with Germany and plans to continue on Saturday, per the official bulletin. The labor legislation commission also decided that women shall be equally eligible to elect delegates to the permanent international labor conference.
Henry Verder counsel for Swift and Company testified before the Senate Agriculture Committee that packers’ friends nationwide were solicited to influence Congress to defeat the Bornd resolution for a meat packing industry investigation. Representatives were sent to observe Senate judiciary subcommittees considering the proposal in 1916.
Captain W E Persons reports Emory unit base hospital 43 in Blois France singing the Marseillaise and saluting as Americans hear the hymn. The unit prepares to evacuate to base hospital 35 with Dr E D Highsmith of Atlanta. Most members expect to return home soon though war department timing is unclear. Lieutenant J R McCord from Atlanta is reassigned to another hospital.
A two year old, Bertha Dunaway, was bitten on the face by a stray dog believed to be mad while playing in Norma Heights. The dog killed by residents, its head sent to the Pasteur Institute in Atlanta for testing, child receiving treatment and reported resting well. Police seek reports of any other strange dogs as neighborhood dogs are culled.
Mr Frank Allgood suffered a bruised nose and a general shaking up when his car rammed an electric light pole on the River street bridge to avoid a banking mule obstructing a center lane. The impact bent the front axle and damaged the radiator, breaking the cross arm and wires, which were repaired within an hour.
Berlin February seven historian Professor Hang Delbrueck warned that if Allied demands threaten Germany to become a wage slave, Berlin would keep Germany under armed subjection for decades, and Germans would rise at the opportune moment to plunge the world into war, he told a correspondent during talks on the Paris peace conference.
Berne Feb 7 Kurt Hisner argues archives show Germany's guilt in starting hostilities. He says Munich diplomatic correspondence already reveals responsibility, though not all records have been checked.
Senator Lenroot of Wisconsin charged southern senators with backing any appropriation if their states received a share, igniting a sharp Senate debate over the post office bill. Tampa February 7 John Goom bel a prominent tamper of Strawp Minolé reporting to the federal district attorney said he was swindled out of 20000 in cash at Lakeland Florida late in December by a wiretapping gang He said efforts to recover the money kept him from reporting the swindle sooner.
The national assembly opened in Weimar on Thursday February 6 with a restrained ceremony. Chancellor Ebert delivered a half hour opening speech that was frequently interrupted by heckling from independent socialists. A democratic looking crowd filled the theatre ahead of the meeting.
Washington Feb 7 Major General Goethals head of the War Departments purchase storage and traffic division asked the house military committee for a sixty million dollar appropriation to store the vast surplus war supplies now in the department's possession.

Athens and Clarke delegation returns from Macon mass meeting urging a one third acreage reduction and hold for a fair price. Colonel Thomas J Shackelford led Clarke delegates in advocating strict short selling penalties and sweeping exchange investigation to curb cotton price manipulation.
Berne February seven on eve of the termination of the socialist conference German delegates are said to have obtained all they desired at the expense of the allies. The Democrat declares the die has been cast while the Internationale remains an instrument of the German imperialist party and independents who hoped for change see their hopes vanish.

The National Rivers and Harbors Congress urged Congress to expand federal supervision of water traffic and broaden the Interstate Commerce Commission’s jurisdiction over water transportation. The declaration stressed it is Congress’s duty to systematize and improve waterways to serve the public interest, a duty the group said cannot be escaped.
In a national press club address on February 7 Vice President Ma 1 denounced Bolshevism and anarchy. He urged American citizens both native and naturalized who refuse peaceful remedies to seek redress by orderly constitutional means and warned against treating the United States as an international boarding house or an anarchist cafe.
Washington February 7 The birthday of Theodore Roosevelt October 27 would become a national holiday under a bill introduced by Representative Edmonds of Pennsylvania. The measure proposes a distinct federal holiday honoring Roosevelt's birth and Leeson further memorial recommendations.
Paris to President Wilson has been forced to abandon his proposed visit to Belgium. It is understood he will accept the invitation if he returns to Europe. Paris Feb. 7 Ignace Jan Paderewski told the Polish national committee to urge the allied powers to allow sending the Polish army in France back to Poland to guard against a Czech Slavic invasion in the south. Paderewski was named a delegate to the peace conference.
Hollis Landers indicted by Jackson County grand jury for the murder of Sheriff Cliff Barber during an arrest attempt. He is jailed in Clarke County and may not be tried in Jefferson. A venue change is expected amid Jackson County anti slayer sentiment. Judge Cobb’s ruling remains uncertain.
Judge Walter L. Hodges of Hartwell denied the injunction in Crawford Cotton Mills v Beaverdam Drainage District No. 1 Clarke County. The February 6 order resolves the suit after January 30 evidence, affecting regional drainage and related interests.

He notes Belgium must resume production of foods and machinery now, as devastation by German action has left industries idle or loss making.
