Yesterday in Athens the dispensary faced a rush as buyers demanded liquor stored in fruit jars. Shortages of corn whiskey and jugs led to large jar purchases, with crowds lining Thomas Street. Total sales reached 3038 dollars as demand remained high.
Will Prather living near the Athens Manufacturing Company plant made a toy cannon from a pipe and drilled a large touch hole. The fuse fired the powder toward his face causing a severe burn across almost the entire face. A doctor attended him. The injury is not expected to be serious in outcome.
Dreamland manager Taylor presents a top quality film depicting life in the West with cowboys and Indians in a thrilling chase. Chief McKie reports fines in mayor s court near 11 840 by yesterday with days remaining likely push past 12 000. Last year fines were about 10 000 and this year rise about 2 000 due to street penalties.
