The Eighth district Masonic convention closed after a record turnout with 175 delegates from twelve counties and many visiting Masons. Officers and six district deputy grand masters attended. two days were planned for next year with a public Ballard address and larger venue. Theday included a barbecue at Tibbetts Park and a Craft degree work by Mount Vernon lodge, followed by a trolley tour and evening entertainments.

Lightning Burns Down Barberville Barn and Damages Farms
A barn on Elmer J Crawford's property caught fire during a severe thunderstorm in Barberville and burned completely. Five bales of hay stored in the nearby outhouse belonged to T R Crawford. Weather and hail also caused crop damage to Crawford Judge Young Williams Dudley and other area farms.
