A jury, after extended deliberation, reported they could not agree on a verdict prompting a mistrial. The proceedings stalled as the panel could not reach a decision, ending the case without a ruling.
News from Athens reports the death of Hugh Hancock a former Jackson County legislator and uncle to local citizens R J Hancock and W L Hancock. He was a well known Georgia figure who served in the state legislature and was mourned by friends at his graveside service held with Rev Tro Batty presiding.
A local ad touts a twelve horsepower gas powered vacuum system from City House Cleaning Co. It claims to remove dirt from carpets rugs and upholstery without dust and promises thorough sanitary cleaning with less wear than hand methods. Rev Dr M L Troutman was sent to Atlanta to conduct the funeral of Dr Thomas C Longino who died at 1 pm yesterday at St Josephs Infirmary. Longino had served four years as pastor of a leading church in his denomination and the funeral is to be held this afternoon in Atlanta.

Accused with two black women and two white witnesses, she is linked to births at her Washington street home and babies burned in a stove. A prominent physician is named in relation to a bill dispute. Court action set before Judge Broyles at 10 o clock.
The Toccoa Record notes 66 year old farmer J M Andrews of Mize, married twice, now has 28 children with twenty living. His family recently grew by another son as reported in local county news.

Yesterday the body of Elmer Campbell aged eighteen months was sent by railway to Nicholson for burial after dying Thursday night at his Lumpkin street home. He was an only child and his parents Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Campbell are showered with sympathy.

Trustees close negotiations with Dr D L Peacock to buy 25 acres for the Black Memorial Industrial Institute at Bayday. The purchase, $2 500 005, was set for April 28. Site chosen by John D Moss and Major John E Talmage, aims to elevate education amid regional racial issues and progress.
An Atlanta led effort promotes training the negro for suitable work through the Black Mammy Industrial School. Gov. Joseph M. Brown endorses the project, arguing moral and economic benefits for the South. Trustees include W. T. Bryan John E. Talmage Sr. and others who push Christianizing and preparing the negro for productive living while white business leaders back the memorial effort.
