Rev John J Nilan was consecrated bishop of the Hartford diocese in St. Joseph's Cathedral Hartford Conn. The ceremony lasted nearly four hours with Archbishop O Connell of Boston and Bishops Walsh and Feehan presiding. Nilan, 56, a Newburyport native, previously led St Joseph's Amesbury Mass for seventeen years.
