Carlton Property Is Decided Upon For Court House Site
The building committee chose the Carlton property at Jackson and Washington streets and Hancock avenue as the site for the new court house. Purchase price around twenty six thousand dollars. Other bids included Jester property for ten thousand and Germine property for twenty seven thousand. Carlton lot measures 220 feet square and will solely host the court house. Citizens backing the Carlton choice will transfer it to the county commissioners at the same price. The committee will begin site surveys and hire architects, aiming to have plans ready by July first for bond issuance.
