A fire at Moss Planing Mills early yesterday morning caused the plant to halt operations for several days. The blaze started while an engine boiler lacked water, and firefighters arrived quickly to limit the damage. Only engine room machinery and piping were damaged, with the flues and smoke stack turning red hot.

College Avenue School Hosts Fine Art Exhibition

Parrs Lose Four Month Old Baby In Tragic Death
Thelma Parr, four months old, daughter of Mr and Mrs Frank Parr, died yesterday at 1698 South Lumpkin street. Funeral services led by Rev Dc Jarrell will be held at the home this afternoon at 2:30 pm, with burial in Winterville.

Fatal landslide traps worker at Barnett Shoals
Miles Brower, a negro laborer living near the Normal School, was killed when earth slid while grading work at an embankment near Barnett Shoals. Warned against entering the unstable area, he disappeared beneath 18 to 20 inches of soil and his body was recovered hours later. The exact cause of death could not be determined.
