Dr Soule and Chamber of Commerce leaders told about two major food conservation plans at a luncheon with two dozen business men. John Harris, a colored inmate, was found guilty of murder for killing a fellow convict with a shovel on the road months ago and received a life sentence from Judge Cobb. Babe Woodie got three years and one year for assault to murder. Ed Fewclothes drew six months for escaping. John Kenderland’s larceny case was started yesterday and to be finished today as the grand jury adjourned after presenting their findings.

Clarke County Grand Jury Recommends Road Improvements

The Clarke County grand jury reports on county roads and bridges for April Term 1917. They praise most roads but flag one poor section from Nowhere road to Center road due to citizen noncooperation.
