Critics accuse compulsory arbitration by the United Relations Federation and its allies of damaging worker rights. Labor figures including Gompers face sharp questions as tensions rise over the role of employers and unions in settling disputes.
An Easter program is set for Sunday afternoon April 12 at 4 o clock. Dr R P Stephens of the University of Georgia will give the address The Spirit of Easter. The program includes songs recitations prayers and readings by volunteers and classes with the public invited to attend.
An ideal program at Classic Theater on College Avenue features a two reel drama “The Romance of a Photograph” with Florence Lawrence and a companion comedy “Capiganangee Shave.” The bill offers brief entertainment to fit the day without tiring viewers.
Judge Cobb explains he cannot enter politics now citing his lack of means and respect for the office of governor. He recounts conversations with Judge West and others urging him to run, but he declines to pursue the candidacy and notes the matter is continued on page five.
The Norwegian bark Orellana sank after a collision with the American steamer Peter H. Crowell off Barnegat New Jersey. Captain Johannson died in a life boat and many crewmen perished or were rescued barely clothed and nearly frozen. Eleven survivors were brought aboard the Crowell and will be landed tomorrow.

The April golf tournament at Cloverhurst Country Club opens to all club members. Qualifying rounds are set for Friday afternoon on the club links and interest is expected to be high. All members are notified to participate.

The Retail Merchants Protective Association of Athens met at the Martin Cash Grocery last night. Seven new members were reported and growth is expected to double membership soon. Plans include renting an office for the general secretary Mr Jackson to house records and manage correspondence. The group is linked with Augusta Atlanta Macon and Jacksonville and other eastern and northern cities.
At the League of Southern Writers closing session in Louisville Kentucky delegates urged state textbook commissions to choose school readers that reflect the best thoughts of the South. Speakers pressed for materials that promote Southern spirit in the regions schools and culture.

On Good Friday the Commandery holds its annual meeting this evening at 8 o'clock to elect all officers for the coming year. Full attendance of Godfrey de Bouillon is requested.
Mrs Thomas Elder underwent a successful operation after a sudden illness yesterday. She was resting well last night and is expected to steadily improve from this date.
Last night around 9 o clock the fire department was summoned to box thirty six near Hancockaya Church where a chimney burned in a small Black cabin on a rear lot. No damage resulted.

Albany April 9 A slip of white paper found among L. E. M. Brown’s papers in New York may delay the execution of four gunmen condemned for Herman Rosenthal’s murder. Brown says the unsigned note warns against relying on Lubin and Margolis and was meant for former Governor Sulzer. he sought review from Governor Glynn and will testify before a Supreme Court justice tomorrow. The four are slated to hang Monday.
The Hiawassee Men's Club debated whether doctors are more valuable to society than lawyers. Judges included Judge W. G. Cornett and two others. the affirmative won led by Sargeant and Kirby against Eidam and Clarke. Next meeting will tackle should criminals not work. Bible class canceled due to revival services at Young Harris Memorial Church.
