Athens Adopts New Speed Ordinance Lower Limits Citywide

City council publishes and enacts amendments to the May 6 1909 speed ordinance for Athens restricting motor vehicles to 10 mph within fire limits and 15 mph outside, with curves and crossings limited to half the street limit. Violations considered negligence under section 299 of the city code.

Atlanta Passes Liquor Reporting Ordinance

The Atlanta city council approved a law requiring express firms in the city to report daily to police all whiskey shipments. Athens City Council Tackles Tax Records and Street Plans

The April council meeting examined canceling city records for properties once held by the Athens Park and Improvement Co after tax sales, addressed street lighting and rental petitions, and heard about a six hundred dollar Hampton avenue grading project. The budget for schools was approved, a fire box was requested, and plans for a stockade and new police uniforms were discussed. A King street condemnation process was set for next session, and adjournment followed a lengthy meeting.

In a federal court in Chattanooga the Coca Cola Company won on every count after a six week case involving forty barrels and twenty kegs of Coca Cola syrup. The government has appealed to Cincinnati alleging misbranding caffeine and other charges. Manager L C Brown of Athens received the news.

Last night at the Colonial theater the Glee and Mandolin clubs rehearsed for tonight's concert. Musical Director Haughey and the ensembles anticipate a standout performance with solos by Hodgson and Lynch and novelty acts by Heath and Lewis. College attendees will include Lucy Cobb and Normal school students. fans urged to secure remaining seats in the morning.
