The bond election is today with polls opening 7 30 a m and closing 6 30 p m eastern city time at the county courthouse. other districts open at 9 00 a m and close 3 30 p m. Citizens are urged to vote early and mobilize support via auto and telephone campaigns to ensure a victory for bonds and progress in Clarke county.
The fire alarm will sound today as votes for bonds are cast at the courthouse. The city hall bell will strike ten times for the first hundred votes and tap once per additional hundred, signaling progress as each hundred is reached. Listen for the bell throughout the day.
Athens residents are invited to attend the formation meeting for the Sons of Confederate Veterans in the city and county. The session will be in room 411 of the Southern Mutual Building Thursday at 8:30 p.m. General N. B. Forrest Jr. will inaugurate the camp next Saturday, so preliminary work should be completed beforehand.
The Easter egg hunt will be held on Monday afternoon on the grounds around the county court house. It is conducted by the ladies of Emmanuel church and welcomes the public and children from the congregation. Admission is one dime.
The meetings led by Rev. E. L. Hill grow daily with rising attendance. Services are held today at 11 in the morning and 8 15 in the evening with the pastor speaking each time. Yesterday he spoke on Love the Motive Power and last night on Where Art Thou.
Rehearsals for the YWCA operetta benefit have moved from Wednesday afternoons to Monday and Friday afternoons. Also advertised are Beechnut Breakfast Bacon at 25c and notes that all meats are advancing in price. Arnold & Abney promote Onter a Strip today before prices rise.
The Athens bar will meet Saturday at 10 AM in Judge Brand’s office to fix a calendar for Clarke County Superior Court’s upcoming term. The session was moved from Friday to Saturday to consolidate the calendar planning with the regular court convening next Monday.
Mrs. D. C. Fowler, 68, died Monday night at her home near Clarkesboro. She was buried yesterday afternoon at Prospect church with Rev. Mr. Taylor conducting. She is survived by her husband and one married daughter.
Georgia lost to Buffalo 12 to 2 in a muddled game with many players used. McWhorter hit a nose homer and Morris pitched for Georgia despite ineligibility issues. Rucker Gian starred on the bases for Buffalo while Coach Anderson shuffled the lineup. The box score ran long and was incomplete. The Nashville conference meeting on education in the South opens with leaders preparing talks from Ogden Litton Houston and Bailey.
Little Miss Hazel Hodgson will give a delightful dancing party Monday evening at her home on Milledge.

Mr. E C Mercer travels for the International Y M C A committee and will address the University of Georgia student body Thursday evening in the chapel. He will tell of his life and invite the public. Mr J H Montgomery accompanies Mercer and speaks Friday at 8 30 p m in the chapel.
The joint legislative committee led by Chairman Whitehead and Representatives De Rose and Moore visited Georgia for an inspection of the State College of Agriculture and related campuses. They attended the morning assembly and the Best Musical Company program, and planned to tour the Agricultural College, dairy, and shops to review the college bill and farm operations. The delegation expressed satisfaction with conditions observed.
Will Barrett, the alleged robber, fled a 35 mile chase across rough country after slashing John Arendall in a tent robbery attempt. Barrett dodged two packs of hounds, rode a bicycle, and was eventually captured in Colbert by Ath ens and Clarke county officers pursuing him for the assault and robbery.
