Bandits fail in bank raid at Newberg

A trio of bandits attempted to blow open the Newberg bank early Monday by dynamite charges but the vaults held. The men fled on horseback toward Portland after terrorizing residents for two hours. Some locals were forced to lie on the floor while others were kept indoors at gunpoint.
