Rights sale clears path for Little Walla Walla power plant

Papers filed in Walla Walla transfer the right of way for a ditch fume and pipe line on the Little Walla Walla River to the Oregon and Washington Power company. The land water right moved from T. J. Kirk et al to C. A. Barrett for 10000 dollars and then to the company for 10 dollars and other considerations. Old Pioneer Who Planted Wheat on Foothill Land Dies

John G. Myera, veteran Toland Empire pioneer credited with proving wheat could be grown on foothill soil, died Friday at his daughter Mrs. Wm. Piper’s home west of town. Born in Virginia in 1820, he married Elizabeth A. Davis in 1848. Survived by children Thos Myona Marsell Pendleton Sumpter Piper Helix and Mary Barnes Pendleton. funeral held Saturday conducted by Rev. Armfield.

Afflicted Sister Receives Aid For Stevens Recovery

Mrs. Egiline Stevens of Baker county near Geiser underwent a delicate operation at a Sumpter sanitarium and is on the road to recovery. The Athena May Hive Ladies of the Maccabees have raised funds through the First National Bank of Sumpter to meet medical expenses as grand officers report a favorable condition for her illness.

Switchboard Installed At McBride Co. Palace Drugstore

New barbwire telephone switchboard was installed this week at McBride Co. Palace Drugstore in Athena. Seven lines now operate in and out, including the McLean High line and Adams line. Three more lines can be added, expanding service to all local districts and farms.
