Washington state reports the largest on hand bag stock at the penitentiary with about half a million sacks sold and delivered. Prices fluctuated from 7.20 to 6.90 per hundred as farmers unions bought heavily. Prison sacks remain preferred when markets tighten, and sales have continued pro rata with no overall shortage.
A Wild West Show created for the Walla Walla county fair runs October 12 to 17. Directors reject traveling acts and assemble their own team including about 26 wild horses from the Drombeller ranch on Crab Creek and riders from Adams county and central Oregon. Ben Hutchinson is reputed as a world champion roper and rider with a seven minute record.
A massive car from Athena carried 98,000 pounds of flour from the Preston-Parton mill to Chicago. Freight charges exceeded $500 for the Athens to Chicago move. Louis R Webb a hunter living near Deering Oregon is to be arrested and prosecuted by U S authorities for setting fire to timber owned by the government.
