Seventeen years after the Walla Walla Savings Bank failed with depositors unpaid John Sharpatein, serving as counsel for the bank president, received a $2000 check from president J. K. Edmiston to apply toward the losses. Edmiston, convicted after four trials of taking money while the bank was insolvent and then released on bail, vanished. He later sent money to Hypyt to pay Billy in Walla Walla and intends to pay depositors in full.
