Death of William Estes a Pendleton Infant

William Estes died in St Anthony's hospital Pendleton aged 11 months three days after a long illness. He was born in Missouri in 1882 and lived on the Pacific coast before moving to Athens about 18 years ago. The funeral was held at a local church in Athens, and he is survived by five sons John Charles Claude Green and Louis and two daughters Letha and Della.

Judge refuses to marry Pendleton couple in Walla Walla

A Pendleton pair sought nuptials before Justice I M Mc Kinney but were refused because both partners' parents status and race prevented the ceremony. The couple, Toelln Jameson and James Hatton, then sought a minister as they allegedly traveled nearby towns. Also reported: J English bought the Riverside tract on the Umatilla river for 4000 dollars. H C Plater found dead in Pasco with lungs matted by sand.

Mrs Stella Anderson Preston died Friday at St Mary's Hospital Walla Walla from uremic poisoning after a surgical operation. She was born 1882 in Shedd Oregon and left behind husband Dale H Preston who died in 1910 two years. Funeral held Monday at family residence with Rev R Brooke officiating and burial in Masonic cemetery. She had lived in Athena, Oregon, and educated at Weston Ellenburg and University of Oregon. Survived by sister Mrs M L Watts and brothers W F Anderson Portland and Alex Anderson Roseburg. Additionally notes mention the Martin-Hobgatt meeting in Topeka and Independence Kansas and tuberculosis death of Brea B Lucy at Freewater, plus local weather fog forecasts.

Farmers' Union Plans Grain Pool Purchase

Hundreds of farmers from southeastern Washington and northeastern Oregon will form a pool to buy grain sacks if bids are satisfactory. Last year they contracted about 85 million sacks via Independent Grain, saving money. this year they aim for at least 4 million sacks and may send a representative to Calcutta to secure stock if bids aren’t satisfactory.
