United States Fidelity and Guaranty will file Goldie Brothers contract under government supervision due to foundation concerns. Dice and Jackson report resumed work following a letter from Charles F. Wood, chief engineer, who briefed Washington officials after visiting Walla Walla. The letter was posted at Bulletin J.
Thomas W. Lawson reports that about $121,000 will be spent in Garden City summer plans for fort work contracts. He notes an original $95,000 appropriation, later increased by government action, and urges supporters to publicize his June chapter to the American people without compensation.

Tonight the Athena Commercial Association holds a meeting with important business.
In Walla Walla on May 22 Judge Brents permanently enjoined Mia Cassann Stubblefield and her agents from suing the trustees of the Stubblefield estate to divide the property. The ruling ends her attempt to probate the will in Umatilla County where most property lay. The injunction had been temporary. yesterday it became permanent after settlement.
A Tokio dispatch reports Russian forces attacked Japanese posts near the Liso river on May 20 and that an engagement is unfolding along the Russian left with two divisions in action. An assault on Tangehed was repulsed with Russian losses.
A large wool sale in Pendiston today drew about 500000 pounds of wool at prices from 18 to 23 cents per pound, well above prior clips and season openings. Douglass Belta, president of the association, said the figures are the best in Eastern Oregon in 25 years and sellers on sale day earned one to five cents more per pound than earlier consignors.
The East Oregonian reports discovery of descendants of Tournant Charboncan and Bacajawea, guides for Lewis and Clark. John T. Charboneau of Coyle Oklahoma is cited as one of eleven surviving children born to Bird Woman at Fort Manuel in February 1805, before the expedition began.
Grover Martin a Milton dentist assistant killed O. N. Preston a Freewater farmer following a dispute over Martins relationship with Preston’s daughter. Eyewitness accounts describe a struggle in which Preston was knocked, then shot. coroner and jury attributed the death to a gun wound, with Preston as aggressor. Martin was bound over to circuit court for murder in second degree after a preliminary hearing.
