Separate Trial Demanded in Haywood Murder Case at Boise
On May 9 Boise City will begin the trial of William D. Haywood secretary of the Western Federation of Miners for the murder of ex Governor Frank Steunenberg. The other defendants are Charles H. Moyer and George A. Pettibone. The state will try Haywood first. Nationwide interest surrounds the case as Associated Press and other reporters mobilize to cover the proceedings. Temple Cornerstone Laid for Baker City Knights of Pythias Temple
At Baker City last Wednesday Gauntlet Lodge No 8 laid the cornerstone of a new Knights of Pythias temple in an impressive ceremony. The $80,000 stone structure will be a lodge home and ornament, with Congressman W R Ellis as principal speaker. Marion F Davis chaired the ceremony. Judge W Levins led the meeting. A parade, banquet, and toast remarks highlighted the day, described as Baker City's greatest Pythian demonstration.
