Economic equality goal tied to world markets voiced by Hyde
Arthur M. Hyde, secretary of agriculture, told the American Institute of Cooperation in Manhattan that American farmers must sell on world markets at world prices to reach economic equality. He warned that southern planters must match India and China living standards, and wheat growers must meet Russian standards, a view the Athena Press notes critics as misinformed. The piece contrasts this with praise for forces seeking prosperity and notes local Oregon matters, including school funding and the North Pacific Canners and Packers cooperative formation.
