The funeral of Mrs Minnie D Booher who died at Walla Walla last week was held at 11 o'clock Saturday at the Christian church in Athena. Many floral offerings appeared as friends gathered to pay tribute. she leaves her parents Mr and Mrs Alvin Johnson and brothers and sisters A M Johnson Tom Johnson Elmer Johnson Alf Johnson Lee Johnson Grace Catron Ethel Montague and C O Henry. Mrs Booher was born October 10 1870 in Mount Pleasant Iowa and was 56 years seven months and 28 days old at death. She moved to Oregon in 1874 and later married W H Booker on December 6 1898. he died November 27 at Athena.

Banister Car Collision Wounds Banister Family Member
John Banister and his party were in a serious two car crash Tuesday afternoon while returning from the upper country. At a point about 20 miles beyond Dayton their vehicle collided with another in dust reduced visibility. Mrs. Vern Smith, Banister’s daughter and driver, was wounded by flying glass, an artery severed and heavy bleeding occurred before aid arrived. she is now convalescent. A female occupant in the other vehicle also suffered injuries.
Bishop Rescues Child From Umatilla River Rescue
Rt. Rev. William P. Remington bishop of the Episcopal diocese of eastern Oregon rescued 10 year old Martha Isaacson from the treacherous Umatilla River current last Thursday. He heard screams from his nearby home and plunged into the water fully clothed to pull her to safety several hundred yards downstream.

Forest Service Starts Road From McDougal Springs
Forest service crews begin this week a six mile road from McDougal Springs to Toll Gate following a recent survey by the Bureau of Public Roads engineers. The route will have a maximum grade of five percent and forty men will go into camp to perform the work.
