Legions Gather for Northwest Convention in La Grande
The American Legion Convention in La Grande Oregon July 21 22 23 will feature a post of twenty Indian members from the Umatilla Reservation in full regalia. Districts from Dayton Spokane Weiser and Idaho will send large drum corps and musical groups totaling at least 14 corps. The auxiliary plans a strong showing with drill teams and quartets.

The campaign to fund the debt of Memoral hall is complete. The Commercial Club committee Avery Banister and Staggs raised 1550 by subscriptions of 50 each. Title to the hall is in The Farmers Bank of Weston as trustee for 81 subscribers who own equal shares. The hall reverts to the town if the debt is not repaid in five years. Travel over the newly completed Thorn Hollow grade is now possible. A temporary bridge spans the river at the crossing while the steel bridge is removed. The finished section links with last year’s grade, meeting an embankment crossing built with a steam shovel to move earth and rock from west to east.

Walla Walla Native Robert Ankeny Dies After Illness
Robert Ankeny, 43, died Tuesday at a Walla Walla hospital after weeks of illness. A son of the late Senator Levi Ankeny, he was born in Walla Walla and later lived on a Rickreall Oregon ranch. He served in the United States Navy during World War I and returned to Walla Walla after the war, leaving two children Helen and Lewis.

Wheat inspection reveals high mixture and smut in Oregon grain
A 1926 study by Professor Hyslop at Oregon Agricultural College reports Portland wheat shows 68.6 percent in sacks and 1.4 percent in bulk. Noted Killer Dies in Oregon Prison

Benny Gross a former Athena high school and Oregon Agricultural College pupil now works in Washington D C as a catapult engineer for the government. He designs catapults that launch airplanes from battleship decks and notes his drawings influenced the current system. Boy loses eyes in accidental shotgun discharge
Four year old Clifford Hall of Bovill Idaho and his three year old cousin were playing with a shotgun when it discharged blowing out both eyes and destroying the bridge of the nose. The boy was taken to a Spokane hospital and was conscious with brain not believed affected.
