Cummins Engineering of Columbus Indiana sponsored the trial showing a diesel four cylinder operated on waste fuel oil. The car traveled 188 miles from Columbus to Indianapolis in five hours using five gallons of fuel at about eight cents per gallon. Officials said the test proves the diesel engine’s reliability and economy for future automotive use.
