Trailblazer Ezra Meeker Dies After Historic Pilgrimages
Ezra Meeker, pioneer who crossed the continent by ox team twice and later by airplane, died in Seattle at 96. He survived by a son, three daughters, 15 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. his wife had died in 1909. Meeker's life included the 1852 Oregon Trail journey, a 1924 airplane crossing, and efforts to mark the trail with permanent monuments.
