Methodist Week Comes to Athena With District Meeting

Next week is Methodist week in Athena with a district ministerial association convention from Sunday evening until Thursday evening. Rev. Roberts opens with a sermon and Rev. Nathan Evana of Pendleton closes, the Athens Commercial Association arranging a banquet for visiting ministers. Delegates will stay in local homes and sessions are in the Methodist Episcopal church auditorium.

Pastry Sale by Baptist Church Nets 24.50 at Barrett Building

The ladies of the Baptist church conducted a pastry sale Saturday and netted 24 dollars and 50 cents. More sales could have occurred if cakes had remained on hand for disposal at the Barrett building on Main Street.

Public religious events invite wide attendance in Walla Walla

An appeal invites the general public to a series of religious events with special music and noted speakers. The program features Sunday evening sermon by Rev. Roberts, Monday by Rev. Payne of Weston, Tuesday quarterly conference of Athena charge, a banquet and reception by the Athena Commercial Association, Bible conferences Wednesday and Thursday, and talks by Miss Bargo of Delaware, Ohio and Rev. Nathan Evana of Pendleton.

Juvenile Ball Game Between Athena and Adame Ends 16 to 1

The junior teams from Athena and Adame met in the city Saturday afternoon. Athena overwhelmed Adame with a final score of 16 to 1. The game was played in quick time and was officiated by two umpires.

Pendleton Groups Prepare Walla Walla Booster Trip

Pendleton Athena and Weston commercial associations plan a joint booster journey to Walla Walla next Wednesday.
