Watches stolen from Herbert Ham jewelry store break in
Early this morning more than 28 watches valued at 700 dollars were taken from the west window of the Herbert Ham jewelry store after a iron bolt was used to break the glass. An intoxicated suspect was held for questioning as police pursued three other gremlins in a rapid investigation across multiple towns.

Fire destroys Stevenson's planing mill at 711 Kansas
A morning blaze destroyed the Stevenson planing mill of Atchison at 711 Kansas avenue, with building, equipment and stock lost. Insurance-covered loss runs to several thousand dollars.
