Robt Tompkins Dies Aged 93 Former Printer

Obituary notes the death of Robert Tompkins at 93 at his sister in law’s home 710 Park Street. A long time Globe printer known as Uncle Bob, he served in the Civil War and held leadership roles in three city unions and multiple newspapers. Born June 12 1839 in New York, he lived in Wisconsin and Iowa and married Louise Lanning in Morengo Indiana. Funeral set for Monday at 2:30 from the Beauchamp residence with Rev. McCormack officiating.

Berkson Store Robbed Atchison Seeks Quick Suspect

A rear window entry at 718 Commercial street yielded two men suits caps silk hose belts overalls jackets and two silk dresses as robbers pried bars with a car jack. Police found a blue suit and necktie left behind suggesting a disguise. Also noted are local notices of residents travel illness and civic events around Atchison with several names and trips.

County Flower Show Set for Septem ber 21 Atchison County

Atchison county to hold its first annual flower show September 21 at Cummings under county Farm Bureau auspices. Mrs. L. F. Linscott is general chairman with ribbons for awards. Exhibits will include cut flowers and potted plants. Entries must be notified by September 15. Exhibits arrive at 10 a.m. and depart at 4 p.m. Dinner at noon followed by talks and musical numbers. County women hope for strong turnout after success in Doniphan and other counties.

Death of Mrs. Mary Adams in Galesburg to be buried in Atchison

Mrs. Mary Stevens Adams 74 widow of J P Adams died in Galesburg Illinois where she lived with daughter Mrs Eleanore Miller. Body to be brought to Atchison for burial by Stanton Stanton. Survived by daughter Mrs Geneva Mae Schilling and by son Dr Eldridge Adams assistant medical director at the U S Bureau of Aeronautics stationed in Kansas City.

Lige Tull Dies at 75 in Atchison Home

Lige Tull, 75, died at 6 a.m. at his home 514 Washington street after eight weeks of illness. Funeral services 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Harcuff & Buis service parlor conducted by Rev. M. O. Kellison. Burial in Oak Hill cemetery. Born July 4, 1857 in Buchanan county Missouri, he spent most of his life in Atchison. Surviving wife Nancy Boatwright Tull and four sons Robert Ralph Dave and Ernest, all at home.

Fatal burns claim Atchison boy Weatherford seven

Donald Horace Weatherford two-year-old son of Mr and Mrs Do Weatherford died at 5 20 am in Atchison hospital from burns suffered Thursday when he backed into a bucket of scalding water at home. Born May 10 1930 in Atchison he was an only child. Funeral at 10 am Monday at Haron Buis chapel with burial Mt Vernon cemetery. Surviving are parents maternal grandparents Silas Berry Bean Lake Mo and 11 paternal grandparents J H Weatherford Atchison.
