Decision on Highway No 4 routing set for Monday
Highway No 4routing into Atchison will be decided next Monday by the state highway commission. Concrete will be poured on sections including the old Waggener pavement and the gravel road to the Omaha Junction crossing to alleviate unemployment. Atchison business interests favor completing the road into the city this fall to provide work for about 1,600 unemployed men.

Two Stills Seized In Atchison Liquor Raids
From Friday's Daily August 26 Atchison police conducted two liquor raids last night resulting in four arrests and the confiscation of two stills 10 barrels of mash and five gallons of alleged whiskey Theodore Williams colored escaped the raid but his wife Minnie Williams and Jerry Tolbert and Carrie Early all colored were arrested A still the alleged whiskey and eight barrels of mash were found at the Williams place Joe Jackson colored 1351 Oak street was arrested in the other raid after officers found a still and two barrels of mash Officers Jim Piper Jake Steubinger and George Johnson took part in the raids
