Old Globe Light Satirical Fragments On Life And Politics
A collection of wry aphorisms on marriage campaigning middle age honesty and everyday quirks. Observations note human foibles from duties deferred to fashion and household mishaps with a humorous bite and social commentary. The pieces reflect light gossip and wisdom of a bygone era.
Taxpayers Weigh Half Mill Tax For Insane Ward
In Atchison county voters face a half mill levy to fund an insane ward at the county hospital, the county farm. The plan argues state asylums can't always take patients, leaving counties to bear costs that can reach 700 to 800 dollars monthly. The Globe invites reader discussion to inform the electorate.
