Hoover as Farmer Hope: Holaday Urges Republican Ticket

Congressman William P. Holaday of Illinois spoke at Memorial hall in Atchison urging support for Herbert Hoover on the Republican ticket. Gov Nellie Ross to Speak in Atchison for Smith

Atchison hosts the first Kansas women’s Smith for President club meeting in the Waggener Building. Governor Nellie Tayloe Ross of Wyoming is slated to speak October 29, drawing large crowds. officers include Mrs Hugo Orlepp president and Mrs EB W Emery vice president. The club plans ward captains to canvass and mobilize women to register and vote.

Peter Kieffer Dies at 64 in Atchison Home

Peter Kieffer 64 died suddenly at his home 1002 George St from heart disease. He worked last night for Steinite and was found by his wife. Born in Luxembourg January 1 1864 he came to America in 1867 and lived in Greenleaf Kansas and Atchison. He belonged to Masons Modern Woodmen and Odd Fellows and is survived by his widow a son Ralph his mother and several siblings. Funeral services are Sunday at 2:30 pm at Stanton chapel with Masons and Christian Scientists in charge. burial Mt Vernon cemetery.
