Atchison First Presbyterian marks seventieth anniversary

The Atchison First Presbyterian Church, organized October 21 1858 by Rev Alex W Pitzer with eight founding members, celebrates 70 years tonight and Sunday with a program featuring speaker Mrs A S Drury and others. A reception precedes memorial talks and a display of early church records kept by long-time clerk W M Davies.

Steinite in a big expansion and merger

A new Steinite corporation forms from a merger with the Leslie Mutter Radio Manufacturing Co of Chicago. The merged group lists no par value common stock at 57 a share on the Chicago exchange. Fred Stein remains president and Lester Abelson secretary and GM. The consolidation adds Steinite Laboratories and Steinite Sales, with stock swapped from the old Steinite and Mutter assets. Par for old Steinite preferred offers, or exchange at three common shares.

Atchison High Students Plan Huge Rally Before Argentinian Clash

Atchison high school students and former athletes will rally tomorrow morning to support the football team ahead of the local clash with Argentine high. A pep rally between 10 and 11 o'clock features 20 former lettermen. A parade from the school grounds to Missouri Pacific field will precede the afternoon contest with banners horns and decorations. The crowd will form a single section at the game to cheer the local eleven as cheer leadership is reorganized.

GOP Plans Local Campaign Drive in Atchison County

Republican leaders Clyde M Reed and Arthur Capper will headline county meetings in Atchison and Effingham as part of a statewide drive.
