A New Face on City Commission in Atchison
Wallace Brockett named the new Atchison city commissioner by Mayor Mize and Commissioner Lehman at a special meeting. He succeeds Fred Mangelsdorf, who resigned after serving since 1921 under the city manager form. Brockett, 37, is the youngest to hold the post and is a veteran of World War I. He and wife Marjorie Miller have three children.

William Flynn Jr a 21 year old machinist's helper at Local Foundry died shortly after 7:30 pm from pleurisy complicated by uraemia at his parents home in the Cummings community. He was born September 25 1909 in Cummings and educated there and at Atchison high school class of 1928. Survived by parents two brothers Clifford and Woodrow two sisters Althea Ruth Mildred. Rosary tonight at 8:30 am funeral tomorrow 10 am at St Benedict church Mt Calvary cemetery burial.
