C W Doud, cashier at Farmers State Bank in Cummings, is arraigned on embezzlement charges after the bank closed with a $30,000 shortage. He pled not guilty, bond set at $5,000, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled. Prosecutors seek a three to six year term per amended penal code.

From Saturday's Daily three Sheriff Larson and Under Sheriff Shape with County Attorney Delaney searched homes in Doniphan County for Volstead Act violators. They found 10 gallons of grape and rhubarb wine under a floorboard at Pat Munger's home south of Wathena, fined Munger $100 and jailed him 30 days. A suspect named J C Faris was found with two gallons of alcohol in a car near South Elwood and held on $1,000 bond awaiting April 5 hearing.
