Bridge Bill Advances Toward Passage in State Senate
The Topeka Capital reports the Atchison bridge bill cleared a conference committee and was adopted by the senate. The measure would let Atchison and Wyandotte counties contract with adjacent Missouri counties to condemn, purchase, or build a Missouri River bridge, while Leavenworth county remains excluded. County officials await a county commissioners meeting amid wage and debt notes. The city reduced bonded debt to about 303,570 this year and projects under $600,000 by year end. A stray street note remarks on attire of some women, and a local dog death is noted among minor items.
