Rotary club installs Portwood as president for year
Thomas B. Portwood, superintendent of schools, was installed today as president of the Rotary club for the ensuing year. He succeeds John Kaff, who began in July. Also joining leadership were Dr. Walter Beitzel Charley Lamme and Martin Jensen as directors. Rotary now numbers 48 members. Clarence Jacobs sprained his shoulder in St. Louis after a fall from a vehicle. The turtle incident caused the scare, not a water wagon. Bert Allen, Hiawatha dealer, was in Atchison yesterday and had been in Kansas City where his mother is ill. Bert Allen formerly lived here. Bert Allen is a former local resident.
