Hanna Poultry & Egg Co. of Blue Rapids and Goff will lease Wilson & Co. poultry packing plant at Thirteenth and Main, with E. V. Bowlby stating payroll around 1,500 dollars weekly during peak season and 50 to 100 workers. Local manager will be Wilson Hanna, and operations start Monday with potential purchase later.

The Salem Evangelical church on South Sixth street will start construction in early July on a 9000 dollar building. C F Erffmeyer of Holton will serve as general supervisor with local Rev. Jerry Boling resigns as assistant manager of the Atchison Chamber of Commerce effective July 15 to become local manager for Porter Oil Co. which will open a branch in Atchison with a planned warehouse and four steel tanks. Ulysses B. Sharpless 58 prominent in Atchison business and public life died at home. Born 1870 Delaware he rose from farm boy to store owner and grain operator, served Effingham police judge mayor to two terms in the Kansas legislature and county treasurer. Survived by widow four children and burial at Monrovia. Funeral Monday at 2 p m with Effingham Masons in charge.
