Kirk Explains MP Train Crews Change Atchison St Joseph
W K Kirk general superintendent of Missouri Pacific explains in a letter to Floyd P Willette that Missouri Pacific will rearrange train crews so two crews based at Concordia and St Joseph operate between Concordia and St Joseph, eliminating 29 miles daily pay for ten men and maintaining Atchison crews as home base. He notes no harm to Atchison, cites reduced LCL business, and says service remains dependable while costs are cut. He adds St Joseph’s share of business is not increasing and provides March 1932 payroll and spending figures for Atchison contrasts.
