Abolishing Muscotah High School Fails At Meeting

Debate over abolishing the high school did not advance. George Peabody was reelected to the school board. Injuries Fatal to Mrs Elder After Fall in Atchison
Mrs. Clifford P. Elder, 47, died after injuries from a fall at her Atchison home. She struck the table in a stairhall, several vertebrae were fractured, and she was paralyzed from the shoulders down until death. She was a pioneer public health nurse, organizer of Atchison's health service, and a longtime church and PTA member. Services planned at St. Mark's Lutheran Church with burial in Olathe.
