Weather spoils All-Kansas air tour plans at Atchison

Rain and high winds delay the All Kansas air tour in Atchison forcing most of the seven Fort Riley and St. Joseph planes to skip the local stop. Field conditions are water soaked and muddy. Topeka officials report landing hazards and low crowd potential. Most planes head to Kansas City for safer landings. Wichita fliers may be invited later.

Must Have an Airport in Atchison Aviation Day Speech

General Edward L. King proclaimed Atchison as a pioneer in aviation linking railroading history to air transport. The banquet at Masonic temple featured talks by aviators and officials urging government support, licensed pilots, and city involvement as aviation progresses toward widespread air service and future airline growth.
