Funeral Held For Prominent Lee County Banker Wallace Yenerich
Wallace C. Yenerich, a leading Lee county figure and bank president, died at his home in the city at 3:35 Saturday afternoon of septicemia. Born February 14, 1856 in Buffalo New York, he moved with his family to La Moille and later farmed in Wyoming and Bradford townships before helping form Farmers State Bank in Mendota and later Whitten bank in Iowa. He served as president of the Farmers State Bank and helped build its notable 1913 bank building. Survived by his wife, eight children, three grandchildren, a brother Philip Venerich and other relatives. Funeral Tuesday at home and United Evangelical Church with interment at Ashton cemetery.

Rock Falls Youth Died From Amboy Fair Crash Injuries
Albert Harms of Rock Falls died at Sterling hospital after brain injuries from a Lee County Fair accident in Amboy on September 16. Samuel Mall, injured in the same crash, suffered chest injuries and meningitis, with operations attempted to save him. Mall owner W T Harrison faced a separate civil suit seeking damages. details describe a car plunge after the coat snagged. Ashton mourns the sudden death of Thad Smith at DeKalb after collapsing near the North Western depot. Born February 9 1872 he was 43. He previously lived in Ashton and worked with his brother Friend O Smith and later with Western Silo Company. Interment was in Ashton Cemetery after a two o’clock funeral at his brother’s home, with Rev. Ulrich officiating.

Buggy Accident Kills Middlebury Child Near Ashton
Three year old James Robert Clark died after a buggy he rode in with his sister Luella was struck by an auto driven by George Dillon. The wreck occurred seven and a half miles from Ashton and a coroner's inquest returned an open verdict.
