Seed corn plot results show disease impact on yields
Mr. Benjamin Koehler of the U S Department of Agriculture helped study seed corn plots at the Ben Rich Wine farm this week. Disease free seed corn yielded 2 to 7 bushels more. A meeting is set for Saturday October 28 at 1 30 p m for farmers to review results and discuss corn root rot. At the Ralph Ewald farm in Reynolds Township the diseased plots yielded 14 bushels less and unmarketable corn doubled. A future meeting at Ewald Farm is hoped.

Fire destroys farm buildings at J. C. Griffiths holdings
A large barn shed and corn crib burned to ashes along with a garage and contents on the J. C. Griffith farm north of Frank Grove. Tenant Henry Classen lost harness buggy elevator hay and a Ford. about 5000 bushels of corn charred in the crib. The fire started in the barn about nine oclock discovered by Mrs Clas sens sister. Insurance covered some of the buildings and contents. John Morris, 81, formerly north of Frank Grove, died Tuesday evening at Herberts Restaurant.
