In Benton Drummond’s home Lafayette band performed for a 135 member Drummond reunion the largest in the area. The three aged brothers Andrew Jackson 90 John Q. 86 Lewis 77 were honored. a long cookout dinner followed with sheep, chickens, pies and photos. A Dixon writer read a family sketch tracing Drummond origins from Ireland and early U.S. settlers.

Wesley Steward founder of the village of Steward in Alto township and large landowner died at his Steward residence from carcinoma of the throat. He was born October 27, 1837 in Pennsylvania and moved to Illinois in 1838. He helped platt Steward in 1872 and built its first elevator. He also ran Steward & Co. in lumber coal and grain for 25 years and was a prominent farmer and businessman.
