A golden wedding anniversary for Mr and Mrs James Batchelor drew about 60 guests to Ashton home. The couple, married October 11 1863 near Bedford England, immigrated to America in 1870 and settled in Lyons then Ashton. Peter Brecunier Pioneer Dies at 79 in Franklin Grove
Peter Brecunier one of the earliest settlers in the area died Tuesday morning at his Franklin Grove home after a heart illness. He was born February 1884 in Huntingdon county Pennsylvania and would have turned 80 this winter. Survived by widow Susan Riddlesberger and two sons Quimby A. and Byron, plus a sister and niece. Funeral today at 1:30 p.m. from his home and 2:00 p.m. at Brethren church. Rev. O. D. Buck to officiate. Also mentions increased North Western freight traffic and visiting relatives.
