Rob Wagner Robbed of 1800 On Dixon Train
Jacob Wagner Sr. of Dixon lost a certificate for 1800 dollars on his Ashton Bank CD while boarding the 1136 passenger train in Dixon. Three strangers were seen jostling him, the pocketbook with no cash was found later behind baggage trunks, and payment on the certificate was stopped. Deputy Harrison alerted the sheriff, but the money was not recovered.

Sidewalk Decision Fails On City Tie Vote

Tragic freight accident claims North Western gang member
W A S enroute 10 Chicago man Riley of the North Western steel gang fell from a freight car east of Union Grove depot about 12 30 Friday morning and was killed. Riley and companion Barton were stealing a ride on freight 182 intoxicated. Riley missed the iron ladder and plunged to the ballast. The brakeman found the body and Coroner George B Stephan summoned Dr E M Sheldon. The inquest Tuesday afternoon heard from conductor brake man fireman Barton and others. The jury returned a verdict according to the facts. Barton was jailed to sober up for the inquest. Coroner Stephan buried the body Saturday morning after failing to locate relatives. Barton had known Riley for a month.
