Bandit Gunfight Hits Rochelle in Railroad Butter Theft Case
A Rochelle raid on a gang hideout led to a gunfight with Burlington detectives. Detective Fairweather was wounded along with Red Monroe, Chester’s brother in law. Chester escaped. The gang had been stealing butter from cars between Rochelle and Chana then shipping via DeKalb.
